For those looking to give back to the community, the USS KIDD Veterans Museum is seeking volunteers to lend a hand on Saturdays, February 27th, April 30th and August 27th or Friday June 25th as part of its new Mini Field Day program. A Field Day event is a work day aboard ship. The Regular Field Days in the fall is a weekend-long event, the Mini Field Day is for folks who can come, help out, and then head home without giving up their whole weekend. No military experience is required, just a willingness to work and a desire to have fun. The camaraderie is great. A lot of friendships have started on Field Days that continue away from the ship.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and individuals wanting to volunteer may contact Tim NesSmith at 225-342-1942, x. 11 to sign up.
