Set Sail for Fashion

The USS KIDD Veterans Museum is proud to partner with The Purple Cow Thrift Store in order to bring awareness to a local non-profit doing good in the community and to highlight local veterans who are making a difference by hosting "Set Sail for Fashion" at noon on Friday, Oct. 16th, in the museum lobby.
The Purple Cow is a non-profit thrift store whose proceeds support the Baton Rouge Christian Outreach Center. It isn't an ordinary thrift store. True to its name, The Purple Cow is unique in that it provides beautiful clothes, housewares, books, and furniture in an upscale environment. Melinda Colson, General Manager of the Purple Cow stores located at Jones Creek Road and Perkins Road, says the profits generated from their stores help fund the Christian Outreach Center whose mission focuses on helping people go from square one to self-sufficiency through their Life Touch, Life Sufficiency or Life Transformation programs.
The USS KIDD has recruited several local veterans that served in various branches and locales to "model" the thrifty fashions. Each of these veterans have diverse backgrounds but they are all committed to giving back to their communities in some fashion.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with an organization that has helped us help veterans in the past," said USS KIDD Executive Director Alejandra Juan. "We hope that by showcasing the work that The Purple Cow does, more people will support their mission and our vets in need."

This event is free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be served immediately following the fashion show so guests can mingle with the veterans/models.
