Security, Safety, and Footwear
For obvious security reasons, certain items should not be brought aboard ship while touring: backpacks, bookbags, duffel bags, and strollers. These items may be left at the Gift Shop or at the Quarter Deck. This is also a safety issue as the more items you have in hand, the fewer hands you have available when moving up and down the ladders (stairs) aboard ship.
Open-toed shoes, flipflops, sandals, high-heels, and crocs should not be worn aboard ship (also for obvious safety reasons). |

Accessibility
As the USS KIDD has been restored to her World War II (1945) configuration, she is handicapped accessible on the main deck only. However, we are not unsympathetic to |
our visitors’ needs. A 30-minute film presentation on the history of the ship includes footage of areas not |
accessible by wheelchair and is available upon request. The museum building is accessible on both floors, as are all restroom facilities. The museum also keeps several wheelchairs on hand for the convenience of our guests and these are also available upon request. |

Parking
Parking is available curbside in front of the museum. Space, however, is limited. Additional parking is available in nearby parking garages at the Baton Rouge River Center and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino, the All-Right Parking surface lot at the corner of St. Philip Street and South Blvd., and the 3rd Street Parking Garage at the corner of 3rd and Convention Street. Some of these facilities may require a fee. For more information on downtown parking, visit the Downtown Development District website.

Downtown Trolley
The Capitol Area Transit System (CATS) offers a trolley system in the downtown area. Take advantage of this FREE service to park in one location and then move |
among the various downtown museums and attractions at your leisure without having to drive. The trolleys now run Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information on Trolley Stops and businesses, services, and restaurants in the vicinity, visit the Downtown Development District website. |
